Caught three of these Formica queens(I'm assuming) in a residential neighbourhood in Vancouver, British Columbia around 5pm on May 30. The flight must have happened some time earlier as there were only a handful of queen spread out around the area, but I did notice a lone alate take off. Formica fusca maybe?

The body is black and the legs are brown.

Length is around 11mm.
