Hi, I wanted to see what technique everyone uses for heating. Yesterday, I purchased the smallest wattage heating cable (15W). I have had 5 Camponotus for about 2 weeks now so I am hoping maybe this will jumpstart them in their test tube set ups.

Do you leave the cable on all day? It seems to get really really warm to the touch - so I just thout I would inquire about techniques (where you place it on the test tube, for how long, success rates, etc.)

Thanks for the input!

I use a 15 watt cable, I place the end of the tip on the cable and it works fine.

I have also used heat mats on larger nests.  Placing them on warm electronic things also work, such as cable box or a mini refridgerator.  If you have a warm furnace or boiler room that also works.

Thanks! The day after adding the heat cable 2 out of the 4 Camponotus laid eggs (after two weeks of waiting) - so it seemed to do the trick.
