Awesome, the ant I'm getting is lucias neoniger instead. Would two Antscanada 3D lucias hybrid nests connected together be too much for them?

It would all depend on the size of the colony.
Move your queen into a formicarium when it has way more than 5, maybe when it has 50 or more?

I hope you mixed some clay dirt with that sand, or it will collapse once dry.
That's good. Sometimes it takes a few days for queens to start digging a nest in captivity.
Generally, when you move a colony into a new nest, the colony should fill at least 30% of it. You can move and upgrade the ants later.
