I really want these small brown gold ants that are like 2-5 mm worker size, I live in Minnesota right on the western central border of North Dakota in Moorhead. I don't have a picture yet but when I do I will post one, the ants nest is around 1 cm to 2 cm in diameter and is usually a tiny hill with one enterance hole. They don't usually take down large food, mostly aphids, gnats and other small bugs like that. Hope this helps even without a picture. The abdomen is slightly global coming to a point but has no stinger and can't bite human skin.

Maybe..their abdomen (is that what an ants butt is called?) isn't that swollen usually, maybe it's that large because of how close the pictures are. I was thinking of a 2.5 gallon forcarium with a built in foraging area. Kinda like @ http://www.formicult...er/12-crystals/
5.5 gallon grout forcarium. I was also thinking that same grout and clay nest outline, what nest cavity shapes would work?

YESSSS!!!! Thank you, have you seen the Antscanada 3D hybrid nests? I'm thinking of taking the best pattern and use that for my grout formicarium outline. Would 2 sides be too big for this ant species?

What do you mean by two sides?

I have a Lasius version of the hybrid nest and it works great. I wouldn't use it as a mold however. $50 isn't too bad for the amount of space in them.

I mean make a group. Nest in the corner of the tank, take the design and draw it on a piece of paper then put clay on the sewing and use that to cast for the nest. The light is where the clay and indent for the best will be and the dark Is the walls.

I found my first queen and I don't know how to give it water or food! It has about 12-20 workers so...here is her temporary formicarium.
