So for the past few months I've been experimenting with designing some new formicaria, and so far they've gone well. No ant deaths from my colonies I've tested in them (monomorium sp. and argentines) that I can attribute to the nest, so that's good. But the sealant I've been using is pricey and doesn't go very far, plus it gets everywhere and is a pain to use in my designs. it's a spray on rubber coating. I've been wanting to find a bit cheaper of an option and have thought about using concrete sealant/waterproofer in my hydrostone nests. Does anyone know if just standard concrete sealant (which is pretty cheap) would work, or would I have to go with food grade sealant (which is expensive out the wazoo) for them. I'm going to completely redo my design if the sealant is good, since now I don't have to spray it and can paint it on, letting me change up my building process and end result. Thanks.
