Recently went to unpack my microscope and found this. Rather ruined my day.

 

 

However recently this scope became it's replacement. Although not horrifically expensive as these things go it does seem to do a good job.

Sheesh what a mess.... Reminds me of the coffee stains on my counter from all my coffee cups.

I can't really tell how it broke from the picture, is it a metal connection that's snapped? Never underestimate the power of JB Weld.

I think the grey stage snapped off at the bottom left side. That would be tough to glue back together.

Definitely need like, a whole section for microscope review. I was trying to find an upgrade for my dinky $20 digital one, but the only thing I could really find were $500+. It seems impossible to shop online for a digital one, they just ALL say 500x magnification, you just need a screen big enough!

Ok, here is my first impression of this scope. I am generally happy with clarity of the optics and the apparent sturdy construction of the scope. The large base plate allows plenty of work space while viewing your subject. The price is quite reasonable at 350.00. My only issue so far is the stiffness of the focus knob which I suspect will loosen up over time.The company also carries a nice selection of lights and cameras. The ring light options have gotten good reviews and I plan on getting one asap to augment my current light.

Nice. I love my Amscope. The only problem I've had yet was the focus knob started unscrewing, and the only way I was able to stop it was by tightening it up which made it very hard to turn. I'm going to have to take a closer look at it when I have the time. I was in a hurry the last few times I used it before moving, so I might not have assessed the problem correctly.

You might consider a light application of loc tight on the threads.
