I'm entirely new to ant keeping, but I'm quite fascinated by it. I'm a software engineer, but my educational background is in biology (and specifically biomedical research). I found a YouTube video a few days ago on making a grout formicarium, though some combination of boredly clicking related videos (like ya do) and seaching for weird stuff. I'm not even sure how I found it any more, but I've been voraciously watching ant videos and reading forum threads for the last few days.

Anyway, I look forward to learning more!

Heh. Yeah, I've used this username for about ten years. It's always amusing when someone realises what it means. :-D

Also, I see you're from Simi . . . I grew up in Ventura. Moved out here after going to college in Florida.

Welcome to the forum!

Thanks!

Welcome!  :D

Nice to know those videos come in handy for people starting out.

I have more tutorials here: http://www.formicult...y-links/?p=6001

There are a lot of links on that page, it should keep you busy for a day or two.  :D

Thank you! I just picked up grout and some 3" poplar for cottle boards. I decided to use polycarbonate for the face, since they had 8x10 pieces at Home Depot and my favourite thing is to not break the front of whatever is keeping ants inside. :-D
