Hi Guys,

I like to know the proper size of test tube you guys use for a queen.

eg:

25x150 mm

16x150 mm

15x125 mm

13x100 mm

Regards

Jeff

I prefer 13 mm for smaller ants. Many people use 16 mm for all their ants, however.

What drtrmiller said. Also, go with the longest size.

I use 18mm x 150mm for everything except species the size of acorn ants. I have other sizes, but I find that size the most convenient.

I think most people use rimless so they can attach the tubes more easily to tubing and fit more easily in certain holes. Forgot to mention that.

Tbh, I find it really depends on what species of ant you're keeping. I know some of my larger Camponotus wouldn't like that sized test tube.

16mm is the best universal size. I would say it is probably the smallest you should be trying to put Camponotus queens into. If you do not mind spending a bit more money, along with 16mm test tubes, pick up a smaller size too for smaller species like 13mm. Basically like how drtrmiller said.
