1. Location of collection: Fountain Valley, California
2. Date of collection: 9-11-15
3. Habitat of collection: Backyard Planter
4. Length (from head to gaster): 3mm
5. Color, hue, pattern and texture: Mostly black or dark brown.  thorax could be slightly reddish brown along with a bit on the legs.  
6. Distinguishing characteristics: slender which made it look kind of long. large (in proportion) petiole and postpetiole. small spine at edge of thorax. 
7. Anything else distinctive:

How cool!!! It looks like Cardiocondyla to me.

I have never heard of these.  Are they common?  They seem like they'd get mixed up with a worker at first glance.

I am going to go out on a limb here and suggest it might be Cardiocondyla Mauritanica by some quick reading.

Further reading has made me change my mind to it being a Cardiocondyla Minutior.

Do you still have this queen? I caught one of these once, but killed it before realizing it was a queen. Mine was less than 2mm though.

Do you still have this queen? I caught one of these once, but killed it before realizing it was a queen. Mine was less than 2mm though.

I don't.  She died over night due to unknown reason.  I had her set up how it was in the backyard.  I do still have the body however.
