This may unfortunately only apply to those of us in CA, but seeing as how fast Daiso stores have been popping up locally, I wouldn't be surprised if they start making like Ebola and spreading across the nation.

If you haven't been, Daiso is basically a Japanese dollar store, except everything is $1.50, except if it's marked otherwise. There are a lot of neat and unusual things though, to include a lot of stuff good for anting. Got a few small containers to play with, various syringes and pipettes, and mallet for smashing escapees. Check it out if you haven't been!

[a] mallet for smashing escapees.

Haha! Maybe use your fancy rubber mallet as a "controller" for for this game.

"mallet for smashing escapees" just made my day!

But did they really sell a hypodermic syringe in a dollar store? Doesn't that seem, I don't know, unsafe?

I have been looking around dollar stores here too today but couldn't find anything that was useful like this.

I can't believe it's legal to buy hypodermic syringes in cheap shops like that. Your right this is incredibly unsafe. Not to mention probably illegal as it's a medical device, right?

You guys need to calm down and stop worrying so much about other people's business. Anyone trying to use those syringes for drugs is going to be in for a very bad time.

In most states in the USA you can buy syringes over the counter at a pharmacy (or plenty of other places). If someone was dense enough to try using these for drugs they certainly deserve whatever consequences come with it. On the other hand syringes have a vast array of uses and come in very handy at times for completely legitimate purposes...yes lets restrict that to save the stupid from themselves.

It's a blunt tip industrial syringe, not a needle tip for medical use, anyways.

At the 99 cent store by my house, those things would sell like hot cakes.

  As Terry said, this isn't an actual needle but a blunt tip, which is why it's the perfect size for watering without fear of stabbing anything. I believe in CA, you can buy needles OTC anyway, you just have to ask the pharmacist.

Ditto, never really found anything useful at Dollar Tree or 99 Cent Store. I did find tiny tupperware containers which are great for field collecting. But since they usually sell surplus items, good things are typically gone when you return to get more.

Not to mention a lot of counties run needle exchange programs that allow addicts to exchange dirty needles for clean ones for free. In the absence of an actually effective, humane drug policy this program is at least a good supplement as it helps keep the rate of exchange of diseases like HIV down.

Ideally, if these were the type of needles that you could use for shooting up, it would be better if they were even cheaper so that people who are going to do the drugs regardless of if they have clean needles or not have access to clean supplies.

Well, after we get past the drug part, I have bought some nice stuff at dollar stores. I got some very clear containers the other day.

Same, half of the items I use for my ants came from dollar tree. Perhaps we get different items than in the U.S.

I especially like those glass containers they sell at Dollar Tree. If I'm not going to use them for ants, I can use them for other pets.
