Hi everyone.

I recently wanted to re-keep honeypot ants. And I do a lot works for it. I found everyone suggested Perky-pet red hummingbird nectar for the food.
However, when I bought it, I found Perky-pet do not sell their original product anymore. Instead, they sell the different hummingbird nectar.
(From top(original nectar) -> bottom(new nectar))

A week ago, I bought the new nectar from Perky-pet. And I found that my honeypot colony DO NOT touch it or eat the new nectar.
Could you guys share what brand of hummingbird nectar do you use?
Thank you.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It does not appear that the recipe has changed and is simply a repackaging. Most people I know buy the concentrate powder and mix their own solution. I have heard some instances of tainted Perky-Pet nectar, which could also be the case here. In the mean time, you can use a typical sugar/water solution.

I’ve had good success with Kaytee brand ElectroNectar concentrate.

Typical sugar water mixtures are cheap and easy to make, plus a surefire way to feed your ants without them randomly dying. Unless you happen to prefer colored repletes, I'd probably go with sugar water like ReignofRage said.
