Hello everyone!

Sorry, this is probably like the billionth hibernation question, but I just wanted to fact-check with you guys.

I have a colony of Lasius niger and a small colony of Myrmica rubra. They've been in hibernation since around November.

Should I take them out now? According to this thread, they only need about 3-4 months in Canada, which I've given them, and the weather's beginning to warm up here in BC. however, when I checked the dates of those posts it was March. Should I continue to wait until March begins to remove my ants? Or can I take them out now?

Thanks for your patience!

Currently raising:

Myrmica rubra (1 queen +  ~10 workers)

Lasius niger (single queen + ~90+ workers)

Lasius neoniger (3 single queen + brood)

Formica spp. (Queen [likely parasitic, needs brood])

Formica pacifica (Queen)

Tetramorium immigrans (1 queen + 1000+ workers)

I'd say take them out now. Ants don't need more than 3 months, so it should be fine to take them out (y) .
