Hello all. I have a nice setup for lasius ants. I will probably keep L. Americanus or L. Neoniger. Do you guys have any tips on what species is better to keep? Thanks for reading!

All i've got is worthless gold.

I am interested too. I heard neoniger are very aggressive and grow quick. Not sure on americanus though. I know brevicornis are pretty shy

Both are nearly identical in their care. They are very close relatives that thrive in niche environments. Lasius neoniger live almost exclusively in the plains biome (unless displaced by Lasius pallitarsis) while Lasius americanus live almost exclusively in the woodlands biome. Besides that, L. americanus is slightly different in color. I have a pretty detailed journal entry discussing this here: Ants_Dakota's Lasius sp. Journal and also sell L. neoniger and L. brevicornis if you are interested, found here: Ants_Dakota's Ant Shop(Nationwide Shipping)
