I've been quietly reading a lot of topics on here and decided it's time to actually join the forum XD.

I'm from the Netherlands, in my second year of a biology bachelor and very interested in everything biodiversity/ecology/physiology. Found my way into the ant world when I had to do a final highschool project and decided to do it on ants, and I've never left since :)

Currently I keep a Messor barbarus colony (my biggest colony which, unfortunately, suffered great losses when not cared for properly in my absence) and a founding Lasius niger and flavus colony. Recently I got myself a small Tetramorium caespitum and Camponotus ligniperdus colony, and a larger Temnothorax nylanderi colony which are happily living in a small wooden nest I made them.

I've also grown a love for taking pictures of my ants lol

Welcome to the forum! It's been quite slow recently. Do you speak any languages besides English? I'm always interested in foreign cultures and languages.

Hello Little-Yellow-Ant;

Welcome to Formiculture. It sounds like you’ve already done some DIY stuff, good luck with your colonies!
Enjoy your time.

Hi there!

Greetings from Germany.

I hope you have fun, and I am looking forward to reading more from other people keeping European ants.

I also have a colony of Messor barbarus and Lasius niger.

Looking forward to your pictures!

I do! I speak Dutch, English and German(used to be more fluent but lost it a little), I've also started to learn a bit of Spanish just for fun :)

Biology 4EVER  :yahoo:

I study at the Radboud University in Nijmegen so we probably won't run into eachother. I did have a look at the biology bachelor at WUR, but decided that Radboud would allow for a broader choice of biology specialisations. Didn't know at the time that I'd end up choosing green biology anyways lol, though I still like me some human biology courses!

What year are you in?
