Hi guys. I was wondering what temperature most ants get active. Thanks for your time.
Typically, below 60F (~15C) most ants will slow down and may hibernate. They will not become fully active until at least 70F (~21C) and ideally, they should be kept at around 80-85F (~26-30C) unless you have a species such as Prenolepis imparis which prefers cooler temperatures.
"God made..... all the creatures that move along the ground according to their kinds (including ants). And God saw that it was good. Genesis 1:25 NIV version

Formica cf. aserva, cf. subintegra
Myrmica sp.
Lasius neoniger, brevicornis
Well, with my Lasius niger, even at 5°C, now during hibernation, there are still workers about drinking from water and nectar.
It really depends on the species.
But I agree, most ants will slow down below 15°C.

Differetn ants different tempatures.
The ants i keep, pogonomyrmex occidentalis, remain active year round.
They do however get much more active when general temps are getting to 84+ F.
Below that they are actively busy foraging and whatever all the time. But when general ambient is hitting 84f and over they move a lot faster, and they generally look more active.
Though a i said they are active year round in ambient temps of 70 and lower in my house.
The outworld is unheated and has LED lighting so it's just generally a degree or two over room ambient getting fairly cold in winter time.
While i keep thermostat controlled heating on their nest space with a gradient from about 85 in one area to whatever room ambient is in other parts.
So active year round but higher temps do see an increase in activity, with about 84/85 F, being the "get more active" temp threshold for these ants.
