I'm gonna be real, this doesn't look like any native Pheidole species we have in California. I don't care if people have nonnative ants, but I'm just making sure you and anyone buying knows what they're getting into.

First, thank you for flagging that this might be the case - the last thing I want to do is misrepresent anything. I have modified the post. I'm not sure if it's possible for me to edit the title; is that something a mod can do? Apologies for the inconvenience.
If anyone else here is able to confirm for sure if it's definitely NOT a California species, absolutely please do post here. If so, I'll edit the post further, to make it clear that they're definitely not.
(If that's the case, though - dang!! It would have been easy to order a non-native Pheidole colony, but I waited a long time for a California species to be posted. I guess misidentification is always a risk. Would be a bummer though )
Thanks all!
