Is 3/8" inner diameter tubing large enough to be used by Camponotus modoc or vicinus to travel between the nest and outworld?  Or do they need 1/2" inner diameter tubing?

In case it is helpful, workers are 6-12mm long and soldiers are 8-18mm long.  I don't know what their height is.

The distance from the outworld to nest will be about 3" to 6".

Thank you

Hello Shrike311;

I've found that 3/8-inch ID, (1/2-inch OD), to be adequate for my Camponotus ants to go between the nest and their outworld.   I have used larger tubing (1/2-inch ID) between the feeding chamber and the nest to cut down on things like blue bottle flies or crickets getting stuck crosswise in the tube.   This does happen with smaller tubing.

You might find the information in this thread helpful.

My Camponotus Ca-02 can fit in 3/8" tube, so I'm sure your Camponotus will too.
