So I have a Lasius Claviger queen that I found today (thanks Oiledolives for the ID help) and I was wondering if I should introduce her to hosts now and then put her into hibernation, or if I should wait until next year to introduce her to hosts?

So I have a Lasius Claviger queen that I found today (thanks Oiledolives for the ID help) and I was wondering if I should introduce her to hosts now and then put her into hibernation, or if I should wait until next year to introduce her to hosts? 

I highly recommend doing it this year, as from my experience they have high mortality when not near hosts for a while in a closed space. You can check out an old thread of mine here. Specifically you may find this message helpful.

It's generally best to introduce as many hosts as possible, at least a few dozen if not hundreds of workers would help with successful founding.

I have a very small colony of lasius, so I have introduced her to 6-7 hosts, but then I had to go to school, so I will see how she is when I get home.
