I think you can get it as a kid you just need parental consent or something.

Yeah I ain't gonna be getting that haha, my parents already don't like me having ants, I'm sure it'll be a whole different argument if I try to get them to let me Import ants from other states or countries lol.

Although I understand your quest to get a lot of posts, what you and everyone else who is focused on posts should be more focused on is quality of content. For example, most of your posts are one sentence comments. Instead, even if it means not having more posts, you should attempt to create longer posts that add to the anting community as a whole. In the end, even if you have 4000 posts, most members are still going to respect Utah Ants with his 800 or Kiedeerk with their smaller number of posts more than quantity of posts, because everything they post is quality.

As an alternative, you can focus more on capturing rarer species native to your area. You can look into purchasing equipment to create a blacklighting setup to accomplish this, as your parents would probably be more tolerable of this. Or you can focus on keeping ordinary ants in extraordinary ways, and give the colonies you have the best care possible.

Utah Ants is also pretty big because of his diy formicariums, and some of the most trusted people usually have the most reputation points

I have a cheap battery powered blacklight and a white sheet off of Amazon, I am planning on trying it back in the woods next spring/summer, I agree with the keeping ordinary ants in extraordinary ways that's my goal, I hope to end up giving all of my colonies very large naturalistic terrariums eventually, especially once they all grow out, something like a 40g terrarium or something like that.

Although I understand your quest to get a lot of posts, what you and everyone else who is focused on posts should be more focused on is quality of content. Another reason I have a bunch of posts is because I ask a lot of questions, for myself and for my friends who don't have formiculture.

Just a reminder for those of you replying: try to delete some of the chained quotes you're replying to. When you continuously reply to messages back and forth, sometimes there will be a chain of replies that form. When that happens, please delete them before posting your reply because it clogs up the thread pretty badly with unnecessary space. Take the way I replied to the post above, for instance.

 

Apologies to 12sm3jack for going off topic haha, since I didn't really contribute to the question you asked at all. But yeah, basically if you are under 18 and want to apply for a permit, you'd need a parent or some other adult to apply for you.
