I have 4 small colonies, 2 Componotus (4-5 workers) , 1 Formica (10 workers), and 1 Lasius (queen only). I can not continue keeping them due to being extremely busy. I know, it doesn't take much time but still, I can't keep them anymore. I live in Halifax/Canada. Please if you are interested reply, I won't ask for any money. Infact, I will give them with their test tubes and extra if you need. Also, I have 25 superworms that I will give you for free. I am not quite sure about policies in this website, I hope my post won't be deleted. All I want is to rehome these ants.

Since you are located in Canada you will have to find someone else located in Canada if you want to rehome them. Or if they were caught in your area you can always release them, if you go that route of releasing them, I would say just poke a hole into the dirt as a starting hole for them, and then just sit the test tube next to it and let them move out in their own time.

Would they survive on their own? the temps are getting kinda cold here, I got them from here but I don't know if they had to dig a long hole to survive for the winter

If you could keep them over the winter and release them in march or april that would be good, they probably would need a bit of time to have built up their colony and have made an established nest before winter comes, they probably wouldn't do to well with the cold.

Seeing as it is really late in the year, they probably will not right now. I would recommend, if you are desperate, to view the recent active member list at the bottom of the Community Index (main page of forum) and PM Canadian ant keepers.
