Does Novomessor Cockerelli die easily?

I've seen many journals about Novomessor Cockerelli on this forum, and most of them always die at around 30-80 workers range. I just got a colony last week with 4 workers and some developing pupae with 1 larva. Is Novomessor Cockerelli a species that's easy to die?

From what I've heard, they should be a pretty hardy and fast growing species if kept right. I know a couple people with pretty large colonies with hundreds of workers.
