Hi, I have a resin printer and wanted to print an ant nest for our ants. It has a water source in it, like a water resivour to provite moisture but ants should bot be able to get to it.
Has anyone used resin printed ant nests and know if it is safe or if something is unhealthy about whay it is made out of?
Cured resin print is safe for humans, then we have rinsed it in certain chemicals and water to make it harden. Still can't find any information if the hardened/cured resin print is ant safe.
What of they chew on it?
It is not safe for them at all, one of the reasons is the fumes it produces
But when it is cured then it doesn't even smell. It's just plastic, doea it still give off fumes?

Yup, it is not safe whatsoever, the 3D printing materials that are safe for ants are PLA and PETG which is printed by a regular printer. Resin printers are more used for statues and desk accessories rather than ant nest and any other thing related to animals
Thank you very much! I have been having a really hard time finding any information on this. Is this your personal experience or did you learn this from somewhere else?

I'm guessing that if it is not cured enough it is dangerous
also sorry for not being clear but I meant that PLA and PETG is recommended because it is cheap and there is no risk whatsoever

Currently keeping:
1x Formica subsericea, (used to be polygynous) 15+ workers with 4 pupa (Idk why they still have)
1x Lasius umbratus, (Workers accepted) 5+ workers with host brood
1x Ponera pennsylvanica, just queen
