Hey everyone! I just had a fun thought regarding this forum, and wanted to share it with you guys to see if your on board.

On the bottom of the main page the forum, it shows how many members are online, how many members there are, and etc. And I noticed it also showed most members ever online in the history of this forum. It was 177 members in Jul 1, 2019.

And I had a sudden thought, what if we broke this record? We could all login at a certain time, I mean, this forum has over 7000 members, I'm sure it'll be easy to break it. Who knows? It might bring back some members that were offline for a long time. If we're going to do it, we should use PST, since a lot of members all live in different time zones.

Reply if your interested!

I’ve thought about doing this before but I haven’t. Also I think we should do it in a couple of months or so and, we need people to keep replying so that people will keep seeing it so it reaches out to more people. I hope this is understandable! If not tell me.

Hello IM26 and other respondents;

This is a great idea, perhaps we could pick a date that’s significant to Formiculture. Like an anniversary, ANTdrew’s birthday, something like that. If we log-in sometime during that day we will be counted.

maybe not ANTdrew’s birthday because that’s in more than six months and I think that’s a little too long to wait.

I’m honored you’d pick my birthday, but it’s in April, which is a relatively slow time for the forum. Traffic will steadily decrease as winter advances down the Northern Hemisphere, so if you want to do this, sooner is better.

Yah I'm in! Great suggestion IM26! We should do it sometime when most members are posting, maybe sometime in the late summer, when all colonies are busy and active, and most people are off vacation?

Currently raising:

Myrmica rubra (1 queen +  ~5 workers)

Lasius niger (single queen + ~90+ workers)

Lasius neoniger (3 single queen + brood)

Formica spp. (Queen [likely parasitic, needs brood])

Formica pacifica (Queen)

Also keeping a friend's tetramorium immigrans for the foreseeable future. Thanks CoffeBlock!

I think the best date would be the anniversity of this forum, if it's not too far away. I think the second best option would be labour day, since ants are known to be industrious so it fits the topic of the forum and there is the "Labour day ant". And it's a holiday so a lot of people would be free.

Hmm I'm liking the anniversary idea, personally. Although thanksgiving would be kinda nice, you know, being thankful for formiculture and all!

Why don't we keep making suggestions until the end of august, and whatever suggestion got the most likes or agreements will be the day we do it? Also, we should make a goal of how many people would login. I'm thinking 500-700 range.

Is dspdrew the creator of this forum? If he is, I'm guessing formiculture was created in spetember 10, 2013 because that was the day he became member. That means formiculture's birthday is quite soon! With enough time to get more people on board with this idea.

Edit: Also, does anyone know why Jul 1, 2019 was the record day?

I'm in. Perhaps if we can get Drew in as well he can spread the word via the email subscription.

Edit: Also, does anyone know why Jul 1, 2019 was the record day?

No, probably because that was two days after I joined. It seems the forum was most active in 2019 from my experience (I don't have much prior knowledge to 2019, I'm assuming 2017-2018 were similar), and had a higher concentration of highly knowledgeable ant keepers who had kept ants for many years, as well as multiple myrmecologists. I think this crowd's amazing, but it's not quite the same as when I first joined.

I am in, if I am available, that is. I work full-time and I still have annual leave and weekend concerts coming up in September and October.

I also do not have time off on the typical US holidays.

I am also not sure how it will work if I am at the other end of the globe (Germany) from most other members.

But otherwise, if the stars align, I am in.

Forum was just at it's peak with active users every day. I actually remember the record being broken for a few days straight if I'm remembering correctly.
