Hello, I am currently raising a colony of Solenopsis xyloni and its going to need an outworld. Do you have any advice???

 


I think I like Fire Ants.

its pretty simple get any container put some sand or other decorations place your barrier and you should be set.

I would use a tube that's a little bit bigger than the length of the test tube! One container I use is

Or for even cheaper that's a little bigger is

But remember to put your barrier on the inside top edges for your colony!

This made me picture an outworld simulating a bare foot stepping in the lawn and getting swarmed lol

ok, are you able to use a lid instead of fluon?

You could use a lid but they would be able to climb the walls and escape when you open it. you should try talcum powder and isopropyl alcohol.

If you have a Hobby Lobby near you, the display cases they sell make the best outworlds. Second on the talcum if price is an issue for fluon, plus talc works better in some cases.

I agree some of my ants pass the floun barrier I have and the talk one works fine.

Any clear box technically works, Tupperware-like containers can be found at dollar stores, and as long as the lid is tight, it should be fine. Ants don’t care about expensive homes!

Ants are small creatures... but together... they can rule the world.
