Acanthomyops queen? Found in Southeastern Michigan, 7/23/2024.

Unfortunately she died, not sure from, but I think it's from wounds sustained by her hosts. Nuptial fight was witnessed.

Length: 4-5mm. Very interesting parasitic lasius are flying in late July.

Lasius murphyi

Do they vary in size depending on locale? L. murphyi I find in my neighborhood are larger and more robust.
