A Spotted Muscleman Tree Ant (Podomyrma adelaidae) I first saw these ants on a particular tree in a patch of bushland in West Wyalong, NSW about 9 months ago. Yesterday I was driving through the same area and stopped to have a look. Pleased to report they are still on the same tree and thriving.

You have more ant diversity than I have bills to pay!

I know right! I would love a camera to take pictures too. So many cool looking ants around me.

A Slender Tree Ant (Tetraponera sp.) that I saw today in Goondiwindi, Qld. I don't get to see these ants very often so it is always a treat when I find one.

I legit saw a few of theses a month ago, I knew they were an ant but had no idea as to their ID. Thanks for sharing! Great picture and looks just like the ones I saw. They are very rare to see and I've only seen them twice.

Wow! It's like Australian Pseudomyrmex (or Pseudomyrmex is American Tetraponera).

I saw my first Lioponera sp. ant the other day in NSW. I wasn't sure it was an ant at first, thought it may have been a wingless wasp. Very unusual looking. There was a colony but very shy and there was only this one ant active and it disappeared once it knew I was there. Second attempt at adding photo. For some reason it didn't work the first time.

Yea they really do look weird and more wasp like than the normal "ant look".

I'm sure I've seen both kinds here. but so rare and hard to find. I do wonder what keeping a whole colony would be/look like.

Picture didn't work the first time. I edited it so you can see what it looks like. Weird how that happened, I have never had problems before.

Sad thing is.. I found a Opisthopsis rufithorax Queen yesterday but she died a few hours later. All other queens I found are fine. I think it was stress. I was so happy to find her but then lost her. was so sad.

Great shots of ants I’m not likely to see anytime soon. I've been offline recently so forgive me if you’ve already posted this but, what are you shooting with (camera, lenses, flash, settings, etc). Thanks!

Hi, no problems. I am using a Nikon d7500 with a Tokina 90mm macro lens. I also have a neewer speedlight. My settings are f22 and 1/250 and iso 250. My biggest problem with this setup is my lighting. I get a lot of reflections from the subject I am trying to shoot and still trying different things to sort it.
