A Rhytidoponera aspera I saw today in Victoria, Australia. Photos don't do their colours justice.

Wow! So much diversity.A Pseudonotoncus sp. that I see quite frequently here in Melbourne. I like the look of these ants.
I am seeing a lot of these small ants around at the moment - Meranoplus puryi
Man! this one is so cute! I've seen similar ones around here in QLD sunshine coast. I'm so happy to see an Aussie ant photographer. Lovely pictures btw.

I am from the Sunshine Coast but stuck in Melbourne until the borders open. I have photos of Aphaenogaster from the Coast, not sure if they are the same species though.

I replied to the wrong picture I just realised. I haven't seen any Meranoplus in Qld yet but now I have an idea of the environment they live in, so fingers crossed when I get back I can tick them off. If you haven't done so already, have a look on inaturalist for ants that people have seen near where you live. It might give you an idea of what's around.
Wow, Crematogaster are everywhere!Crematogaster species ants from Melbourne, Victoria. No idea what species they are but really common.

A Red Spider Ant (Leptomyrmex rufipes) from Qld, Australia. I have seen a few different Leptomyrmex species and they are some of the most fascinating looking ants. I have yet to see a colony but hopefully soon.

A Spotted Muscleman Tree Ant (Podomyrma adelaidae) I first saw these ants on a particular tree in a patch of bushland in West Wyalong, NSW about 9 months ago. Yesterday I was driving through the same area and stopped to have a look. Pleased to report they are still on the same tree and thriving.
