Is that worker in some diatomaceous earth?

Nice picture though, Amblyopone seem so awesome, like Stigmatomma on steroids.

Hi there! I went on a 6 month or so hiatus, in part due, and in part cause of the death of my colonies.

However, I went back to the Sierras, and restarted my collection, which is now as follows:

Aphaenogaster uinta, Camponotus vicinus, Camponotus modoc, Formica cf. aserva, Formica cf. micropthalma, Formica cf. manni, Formica subpolita, Formica cf. subaenescens, Lasius americanus, Manica invidia, Pogonomyrmex salinus, Pogonomyrmex sp. 1, Solenopsis validiuscula, & Solenopsis sp. 3 (new Sierra variant).

It is on a dirt trail in a bushland area. I am not sure if it is diatomaceous earth, but there were a lot of different species of ants in a small area. Love these ants and hope to see more.

I love polyrachis. I wish we had them in the US.

Anyway here are some very sleepy and sluggish carpenter ant sisters sleeping even as I check on their water.
