irregardless.
Nice try.
Hi there! I went on a 6 month or so hiatus, in part due, and in part cause of the death of my colonies.
However, I went back to the Sierras, and restarted my collection, which is now as follows:
Aphaenogaster uinta, Camponotus vicinus, Camponotus modoc, Formica cf. aserva, Formica cf. micropthalma, Formica cf. manni, Formica subpolita, Formica cf. subaenescens, Lasius americanus, Manica invidia, Pogonomyrmex salinus, Pogonomyrmex sp. 1, Solenopsis validiuscula, & Solenopsis sp. 3 (new Sierra variant).
Stupid dictionaries, giving support to that word, they are so clearly wrong. Its the same as a double negative! It is equivalent to saying you "don't have nothing"; if you do not have nothing, then you must have something, which is the opposite of nothing!!!!!

My small Camponotus lateralis colony moved into their new nest. The queen has been busy the last days and laid a lot of eggs:

Figured this was worth sharing. This is what happened when I hit cancel halfway through the image stacking process. A glowing Aphaenogaster picea worker floating in the void.
So Elon Musk now also puts ants into space xd.
Weren't there already a couple hundred T. caespitum workers on the ISS ( and because of that the dreaded gel ant farm was invented )
Got some photos of Crematogaster cerasi preforming trophyllaxis recently, even managed 4 workers in what you might call a quad-ryllaxis.
I also went anting on Sunday and grabbed some Aphaenogaster tennesseensis shots!
No, believe me, you rarely see photos on inat that are better than that.
What?! But in my photo, like, half of the ant is blurry, the composition is all bad, hell the ant is not in the center of the photo, it wasn't even done with anything professional but a cheap clip-on macro lens for a phone.
I actually quite like the composition and details you got, it's an impressive shot for a phone!
Those last Aphaenogaster shots are incredible!!! Very nice job!!

I used an external flash + soft box to take these pictures:
