Found this Pheidole queen under a pot plant in my backyard just before winter a few months ago.
counted 40 workers, so first major larvae should be well under way

not sure on species. A lot of Pheidole species here have not been studied and do not have an ID.

This one is one of the smaller species in my backyard

I think the first species in this video in my yard will be the same

This is my deceased Camponotus pennsylvanicus queen. She presumably died of the Aspergillus fungus, as did my entire collection........  :*(  (I took this photo with my new macro lens I bought on Amazon. It was pretty cheap, but quality's not the best. Anyways, better than nothing........
