Correct, i had actually figured it out late last night as i was getting to sleep. i finally went "hey wait a minute some Camponotus have a weird face like that"

Can you tell me where you found her? I mean which area in which country, like that.

it's in the title lol. southeast arizona, cochise county

this seems to be correct, as i cannot find info on other colobopsis in this region. thank you. i had actually figured it out last night before i dozed off lol, at least to genus.

Almost overlooked her, she came to my light sheet. small, approx. 7mm

note the flat face, her mandibles close all the way in, causing a box-like shape

can't figure her out.

CORK HEADED ANTSSSSS yes definitely colobopsis, but as I don't live where these are found I couldn't tell you what type precisely. I love these types of ants! If you succeed in raising them to a colony you should make a small entrance that the majors can block with their heads when in danger. It would be super cool to see in captive conditions!
