Found Yesterday
In a semi rural, subarban area
Many crop plantaions nearby (banana, rubber, pineapple, rice, teak)
Nearest plantation (rubber, and pinapple)
Found a dealate in the evening at about 5:30 pm
Exactly 8mm queen
5-6mm workers (wild, no other species like this are found, only camponotus, solenopsis, tetramorium etc are found)
Gaster is ALWAYS curved inwards
Very dark maroon colors for workers and queens
When handled or disturbed, the workers release a funny/sweet smelling fume, which if inhaled a bit too much, can cause annoyance for humans
Nests in dirt, i have never found these ants in any other place
They have large colonies, maybe in the 10Ks
they have lots of satellite nests

Currently raising : C. Parius (2x), C. Vitiosus (2x), Carebara Diversa (1x), C. irratians (2x), M. brunnea (1x)

Have raised : Solenopsis

Enjoy anting, NotAxo :D

Yup I second myrmecaria brunnea. All pictures of these queens have her gaster in that position. I suspect it's to maximize the ease for egg laying and cleaning of her gaster. Although she can't have flown like that right?!?

Currently raising:

Myrmica rubra (1 queen +  ~5 workers)

Lasius niger (single queen + ~90+ workers)

Lasius neoniger (3 single queen + brood)

Formica spp. (Queen [likely parasitic, needs brood])

Formica pacifica (Queen)

Also keeping a friend's tetramorium immigrans for the foreseeable future. Thanks CoffeBlock!

I saw them flying at my porch light, but it was a bit more straightened, but not as straight as a normal queen.

Currently raising : C. Parius (2x), C. Vitiosus (2x), Carebara Diversa (1x), C. irratians (2x), M. brunnea (1x)

Have raised : Solenopsis
