Am I the only one that always thinks about how my ant colony would do in a battle with other ant colony's?

I see people posting about, their Camponotus, Solenopsis, Myermecocystus and etc. and always wonder how my Tetramorium would do in a fight with them.

Currently Keeping:
Trachymyrmex septentrionalis

Pheidole pilifera

Forelius sp. (Monogynous, bicolored) "Midwestern Forelius"
Crematogaster cerasi

Pheidole bicarinata

Aphaenogaster rudis

Camponotus chromaiodes

Formica sp. (microgena species)

Nylanderia cf. arenivega

What would be the benefit of that? Just to see who would win? Perhaps for some scientific reaserch to see how ants defend against other ants, but besides that, why would one do that?

LOL! I admire your candor!

I can sometimes catch myself thinking along those lines too at times. It helps, however, when we remember that a species' power can also be measured in survivability and adaptability. A mosquito is no match for a black widow spider, but I've seen thousands of mosquitoes and never the black widow. And when I'm out in the wild, the black widow isn't anywhere on my mind; it's always the darn, wimpy mosquito that torments me physically and psychologically. So, I think we should all remember that each species carries unique value in its arsenal of survival strategies and that hand-to-hand combat is oftentimes not an important one.
