I got some issues with the ants bypassing the Fluon (think my fluon is getting too old or the ants getting too darn good at dealing with it)

But anyhow, so ants keep going up to the metal mesh I have covering a ventilation hole and also the sponge filter I use to block a ventilation hole and chewing on it. They seem to be able to sense an outworld OUTSIDE the outworld (think: the Matrix / The Truman Show kinda *oh snap!* kinda realization) and want to escape.

Is there a natural deterrent that I can concoct and apply to the surface that'll cause the ants to avoid touching or limit their contact with the area?

1. Of course won't be harmful to the ants

2. The smell won't spread so much as to affect the ants not on the mesh

3. Won't fall off and end up in the outworld where it'll annoy the ants

Preferably a method in which one of you guys have actually tried and had good, non harmful results?

I heard of some natural plants and spices that do but wondering if there's any bad effects to it.

These ants are quite smart, as soon as I expose an opening, they sense it and now have workers patrolling the area, lol hilarious, interesting, and a bit tiresome to deal with since they're making maintenance a bit harder to do.

You may want to just switch to talc and alcohol. I’m having better results with it, at least for Crematogaster.

"The ants are a people not strong, yet they prepare their meat in the summer." Prov. 30:25
Keep ordinary ants in extraordinary ways.
