How long does it take usually for a queen Solenopsis species to go from egg to larvae?
One of the most common questions with the most answers...
Short answer: depends.. on the heat, on the species, how stressed she is, what colony founding process she's using etc.
Solenopsis invicta eggs will mature to nanitics in about 5 weeks at 29 C (84 F) and sufficient humidity.
So I have a queen with a good number of eggs it has been two weeks and i have not seen any larvae is that normal?
Assuming the temperature is suitable for development, it is a possibility that the queen is infertile if the eggs do not develop.
Species plays a big role as well as temperature. Some species just take a bit longer to develop them others.
