For anyone who doesn't already know, my real name is Drew or Andrew, and I'm from Southern California, Costa Mesa to be exact. I'm a network admin and webmaster of a few websites including this one now, and of course I love ants too. :D

Thanks. The organization and structure will remain mostly the same, but as for the look and the skin, this is just temporary, that will soon be changing to something a little cooler looking in my opinion.

Thanks. Funny, I just finished watching all your Youtube videos before jumping on here today. Those Bull Ants and your formicarium both are so awesome.

Hi. My name is Brian. I live in Spokane WA. I just stumbled across this forum while searching for information about “ant farms”. I had an uncle Milton’s ant farm when I was a kid and I loved it. I’m now in my early 50s and trying to find a hobby after recently becoming divorced a few years ago. I am not a dog or cat person. Wondering if it difficult to find queen ants in this area. Is anyone out there from the inland northwest?

Welcome, brother! This is a truly great hobby to pick up at any age. Queens are quite easy to find almost anywhere. Your best bet would be looking for spring flying Camponotus queens on the first truly warm evenings. Read this thread for general tips: https://www.formicul...tch-ant-queens/

I lived in the western WA so idk much about the wild life of the East but I'm pretty sure you have some cool desert speices out there. If you every go west you could get some cool Formica.

Hello, I'm also new here! Go by Stubyvast online, for privacy purposes. From Canada...haven't seen any one else from Canada on here so far, haha. Me and my friend (who is joining this forum right now) are both avid ant keepers for the past two years or so! Currently raising a lasius niger, a few myrmica rubra colonies, and hoping to catch more this summer! This forum is super helpful and gives tons of great advice!

My friend and I both post on coffeblock.ca (yes that's how it's spelled), with some info about general ant keeping too. Feel free to check it out if you'd like!

Currently raising:

Myrmica rubra (1 queen +  ~5 workers)

Lasius niger (single queen + ~90+ workers)

Lasius neoniger (3 single queen + brood)

Formica spp. (Queen [likely parasitic, needs brood])

Formica pacifica (Queen)

Also keeping a friend's tetramorium immigrans for the foreseeable future. Thanks CoffeBlock!

Howdy Stubyvast, welcome. Looking forward to what interesting species you may catch up there in Canada.
