Can't wait to see how this colony grows! Hopefully, I'll find a tetramorium queen soon. My previous colony died after a bad hibernation.

Wow, hope your colonies do well! Tetramorium are fun to raise and super quick to grow! I actually used to have a few colonies of these that I caught in a neighbour's pool (there were pretty much hundreds in there) and raised to their first few workers. I gave them to a few people and with so little experience at the time I let a few die, mold and such-like...so sad. Now I'm much more experienced and hoping to raise more! Good luck to you!

Currently raising:

Myrmica rubra (1 queen +  ~5 workers)

Lasius niger (single queen + ~90+ workers)

Lasius neoniger (3 single queen + brood)

Formica spp. (Queen [likely parasitic, needs brood])

Formica pacifica (Queen)

Also keeping a friend's tetramorium immigrans for the foreseeable future. Thanks CoffeBlock!

Weird how that happens! I almost wonder if Tetramorium are more attracted to light reflecting off water than other species? Anyone know anything about that?

Dude, you have gotta stop finding by so many queens. Nothing is flying in Orange Country besides S. invicta, and I’m sick of it.

If anyone is interested to know Tetramorium immigrans is currently flying in B.C! Caught a queen today wandering around Vancouver, and apparently there was a nuptial flight around there just yesterday! But yah man so jealous of you GoCamponotus! You got sooo many ant species down there vs. up here haha! Hoping to catch some more t. immigrans tonight hopefully!

Nice! I would look for them in the morning as that's when they fly here (there should not be much difference in times) and they should be running a long the pavement.

I lied about updating on that one Friday  Sooo update, I got 4 queens from KadinB a while back and those have been growing great only 1 dead. As for my personal colonies the duo colony died but the others are still alive.  I am ranking them based on the amount of workers. (best colony shown in pics)

Colony 1: 25 workers and lots  of brood

Colony 2: 10-12 workers and brood

Colony 3: 7-10 workers and eggs

Colony 4: 3-5 workers and lots of brood

Colony 5: Single queen with tons of brood
