7/8/24

The colony is getting back on their feet, they now have 4 workers again.

One worker is about to enclose very soon, I could see her body from inside the cocoon, these ants have also eaten a variety of foods and I found a few that they like, and are not that hard for me to get.

Their number one favorite food as of now are flies, they ate around 9 flies that I gave them, they also drank a huge amount of sugar water.

If all of the cocoons eclose correctly, there will be 7 workers in total. There are also larvae and another pile of eggs present in the nest.

Haha nice! She still looks a bit pale! Wow that's a lot of protein. Keep up the good work and hopefully you'll get some majors next year!

The colony is now up to 7 workers, 3 larvae, a batch of eggs, and one cocoon.

The colony is refusing to take much food, and I have no idea why. I tried feeding them some fruit flies, crickets, and beetles but they wouldn’t take it.
They do drink a lot of nectar which is good, i’ll post a picture later when I can.

My picky Camponotus usually end up accepting cut mealworms and dubia roaches, so you could try those to see if they eat.

My room gets to around the 80’s-88 degrees in the summer, so I’m pretty sure that they are warm enough.
Also, here are some pictures. Sorry for posting them 2 days late.

I recently moved the colony, since they were making such a mess of their old nest. I kind of regret doing that now, since the thing that I moved them into has the glass really scratched.

They’ve accepted more protein as of now, so i’m glad.

Good, good, maybe the fact that their nest was messier made it more likely for them to feel stressed, and thus, as a result, cause them to refuse food, because it could cause more debris and mold build-up. New nest was a good idea!
