On 4/16/2024 I acquired a colony of Pheidole californica. I moved them from their crowded test tube to a Tarheelants mini labyrinth I had made for tiny species. They moved in quickly and seem happy.

They are from southern Oregon. I'm very excited to have them. I've wanted a colony for years now.

Nice big colony for a start! Love the majors.

Only thing holding me back from keeping Pheidole is their fast growth...

Everyone is different.... I am actually a bit intimidated by the growth of my Lasius niger colony. Slow down, girls!

You can always slow down their growth by feeding them less protein
