LOTS of cotton, extra test tubes, out worlds, mealworms, dubias, nests, and heating cable/incubater. This is a short list.

I started a thread on this not too long ago, there are some popular suggestions:

Starting this July I'm posting videos of my ants every week on youTube.

I like to make relaxing videos that capture the joy of watching ants.

I have the first two and pretty soon I will get the third, sixth and last.

Do you know where I can get mealworms for cheap?

fluon is great for keeping no lid outworlds. Also it's great if you are lazy like me, works as is out of the bottle, no alchemy skills or work needed.

and a pooter. You want a pooter, you will not be collecting lots of ants, quickly, with your fetaher tweezers. If you need to move a lot of ants, you need a pooter.

It is the easy way to clean an outworld. Seal it off, pooter up the ants in it, clean it without hassle form ants. Put ants from pooter back when done.

pooter

and yeah a nice pooter is nice and all. but if you got a perscription medicne bottle, some extra ant tubing, and any kind of filter(cotton or whatever). then just cobble one togther, don't spend money on it. A pooter is such a basic thing it seems wrong to not just make one out of whatever reuse/upcycle materials you got around.

Yeah, like what Full_Frontal_Yeti said, a pooter or insect aspirator is very useful for collecting small queens and specimens (I’ve been looking to get a good one, but they’re very pricy, even on Amazon. Maybe I have to check again…)

Keeping:

3x - S. molesta (colonies and single queen)                1x - C. nearcticus (founding but no eggs)   (y) New!

1x - C. chromaiodes (colony)                                       1x - C. subbarbatus (founding)

1x - F. subsericea (founding)                                        1x - T. sessile (mega colony)

3x - P. imparis (colonies)

2x - L. neoniger (founding)

Check out my C. nearcticus journal here: https://www.formicul...cticus-journal/

Check out my C. chromaiodes journal here: https://www.formicul...aiodes-journal/
