Can anyone recommend a web camera with a decent macro feature? I thought I could pop a web camera in the shoebox I have my hibernating queens in. Just trying to think of ways I can check on them without disturbing them much.

Gently opening the lid of the box will not disturb them at all, especially if they are in diapause. Save your money.
Thank you. Is this true for Messor barbarus? I purchased a (new) queen that is currently in hibernation. I have her in a dark box, in a test tube setup in my garage (~50-55F). no brood yet. Seems to be pretty active though.
Everything I read about this ant seems to indicate that the less I mess with her, the better. (thus the camera idea). I hope this new hobby will help me work on being more patient
