Awesome idea to use the heating cable in the 10 gal to raise their ambient temp. I’m noticing a lot more die offs in my Pogonomyrmex colonies with colder temperatures as well. Probably normal.
Let us know how your liquid feeder does in that setup… I’m using dirt box setups for my colonies so there is no hope for their liquid feeders imo.
Thanks for the updates!!!

Thanks! It’s what I would do to heat tarantula slings back in the day. They don’t do well with direct heat.

They aren’t plugging up their liquid feeder anymore, and I’m not sure if they’re drinking from it or if the water is just evaporating, but the water level is going down.

Honestly I’m not sure if they’re coming out of their nest at all? The tube to the outworld has been completely blocked, and I haven’t seen an ant in the outworld since they started that project. Sometimes it looks like the queen is trying to get out. I put a piece of apple in the outworld to see if that would get them out, but I don’t think it’s seen any action. I’m trying not to fret about it.

I put the lid on their outworld today and within hours they were out foraging. They also had two more larvae enclose, so there are three pupa now. It also looks like the queen is laying eggs again.

I offered some fish flakes, which they accepted readily and fed to the larvae. Speaking of larvae, I spotted some new ones! It's a relief to see some new brood developing.

There has only been one new death, and it was the first worker that eclosed in my care (the one with the bad leg). Not totally surprising, as that worker has never seemed particularly well.
