Hello!
I am a beginner ant keeper, and am interested in caring for Myrmecocystus testaceus ants. I currently have an Omni Nest, but as I am told, the repletes would not be able to hang from the plexiglass ceiling, and the colony would encounter general difficulty in such an environment. To circumvent these issues, I thought of starting out the colony in a smaller, secondary container, better suited for housing repletes. after allowing the colony to nest and the population to grow, I would attach the Omni Nest (Which would be covered in a layer of sand to make the ants more comfortable), allowing the colony to expand. I hope to manufacture the secondary container myself, and would appreciate any suggestions on the optimum design and materials necessary to house repletes.
