I collected a total of 7 individuals 5 of the first species and 2 of the second

 

1. Victoria BC
2. Date of collection: Sept 2
3. Suburbs with lots of trees

9. Nuptial flight time and date: ~Sept 2

 

First species (first 3 pictures)
4. 10-11 mm
5. Dark brown with a golden halo
6.7. Sitting still after putting in test tubes
 

Second species (last 2 pictures). This looks like the same Formica Fusca group species I have collected before.

4. 12 mm
5. Shiny black
6.7. Active and pulling on the cotton after in test tubes for ~20 min

The first is Lasius Niger group and the second is Formica fusca. I'm not very good a specific spieces but others like OiledOlives and Mettcollsuss are very skilled at it.
