Larvae not pupating!?(Formica pallidefulva sp.)please help

My starting colony Formica pallidefulva-group species has one queen,  one nanitic, a pile of eggs, and a weird larvae. The larvae matured

then attempted to pupate(I think?) but it didn't turn into a pupa! It looks like the lower half has the ant gaster, but the upper half has the larvae head. 

It looks like it was stuck half-way? It has been like this for more than four days already.
