Hi everyone! In the summer I always catch at least 10 queens and put 1 per testube and I always have a lot of luck with that. However when I moved to New York, I decided to catch 8 queens who all had their wings taken off and put them in the same testube. They successfully had raised a perfect colony with about 20 nanitics! I then proceeded to give them a whole 9 dram tube of brood. The workers cared for brood but this is when the problem started. The workers were getting more and more aggressive with some queens. My fear is that they will kill all the fertile queen ants and they will crown a unfertile queen. What do you guys think? Can the workers sense if a queen ant is mated before they kill her? I don't know much about creating multi-queen colonies. Thanks guys!
Keeper of:
Camponotus castaneus | 20-25 workers
Tetramorium Immigrans | 1,000+ workers (yes I gave them a brood boost don’t be salty!)
Aphaenogaster Rudis | 16 workers
Pheidole bicarinata | 50-60 workers

Ants are just better.

Tetramorium are very monogyne there is a high chance they kill all but one. Then will most likely crown a mated queen.
