how many odontomachus queens fly in a nuptial flight

I've found a place where odontomachus live so I'm going camping there to hunt, how many usually fly per flight?


this is in aus btw

Exactly 1,234 per flight. Joking aside, I doubt anyone knows more than a *rough* estimate of how many queens fly for any given species’ flights.

Kind of off-topic, but I would definitely suggest looking for iridomyrmex if you havent already. The flights are easy to spot-- I've found one last night and multiple in October. You can spot a flight easily since the alates scale up walls, poles, etc. Plus I've seen flights last as long as two weeks.

Kind of off-topic, but I would definitely suggest looking for iridomyrmex if you havent already. The flights are easy to spot-- I've found one last night and multiple in October. You can spot a flight easily since the alates scale up walls, poles, etc. Plus I've seen flights last as long as two weeks.

i already keep a bunch of iri, they are pretty boring imo and they have been flying since august. i also have a chance to find odontomachus queens this summer
