I have gotten mealworms one week ago. But their substrate from a day to another have gone moldy. Since them I took of the lid and put a paper towel on top of the substrate. But it’s gone worst, what should I do?
I just added new carrots.

Oatmeal molds much quicker than wheat bran. Switch out the bedding for wheat bran and try to reduce humidity. Two of those carrots is more than enough.

I guy who keeps geckos told me to replace the substrate and I put wheat brain due to it being cheaper, so I’m glad it’s actually better! Thank you for the info.

Why not just keep them in bioactive soil or coconut husk, then just feed them with oats and vegetables on the surface? I never understood why their substrate needs to be their food.

Doesn’t it make them eat more so grow faster?

Once you get a large population of mealworms going, they eat through their bedding very fast. Putting a thick layer of wheat bran is best. You just need to keep it relatively dry.

I guess it depends on how many colonies you have, and how large they are.
