I remember watching him A LONG time ago, never knew his channel would blow up so much, now his name is known worldwide to youtubers and animal keepers especially. Pretty impressive. What's nice about him is he doesn't just talk about it, he really does it.

 

Now the video is a bit exaggerated, he just put his hands in there with quite a few of them but only about a dozen or so ants actually got him. Difference between ants and wasps/hornets/bees is that they can reach you easier through flying whereas the bulldog ants are crawling all around the outside.

 

Pretty sure at this point, he's hired doctors and specialists on the matter and got their input before risking himself and a crew on hand to deal with the issue if it gets worse. So he basically knows what to expect.

 

My question would be, there's about 90 species of bulldog ants in Australia, do they all have the same level of venom? Would some bulldog ants' venom be worse than others? Pain is somewhat subjective and reactions to venom can differ from person to person.

 

His videos are interesting, reactions such as these can be used in scientific studies and it's informative (and entertaining) to the public. Only problem with him is kinda the same that goes with the people that follow [jakazz], they will copy the stunts and many of them don't have the knowledge or expertise to back them up, actually many of them don't give a F, they just jump in, hoping of getting some of that fame to rub off on them. But people will always be people, it's entertaining and fascinating and results may vary.

 

As a huge handler of tarantulas including old world Ts, giant centipedes (profile picture), scorpions etc, I understand a bit on the mindset and why and whynots. There's definitely things I've found out by handling and sometimes getting bitten / stung, well....other than it can hurt like a mofo hahaha... such as animal behavior, reaction and how to deal with it in a calm manner.

It is. I hope he clarifies that in the video, but I haven’t watched yet so I don't really know if he does.
