Hey Y'all...  let me try this again.

Capture Date:  April 17th 2023

Capture Location: Millbrae, California near Josephine Waugh - Soroptomist

Terrain:  Oak wood with a nearby man made seasonal creek

Size:  10-12 mm

Notes:  I assumed this is a Camponotus due to the long lead time on egg laying and the very few initial eggs laid.  I have gone through the Ant Wiki looking at ants in my area and I am somewhat stumped.  This ant went insane in the test tube, pulling cotton and generally unsettled, so I moved her into a large mini hearth and she laid eggs a couple days later and seems pretty relaxed.  I've waffled between Camponottus and Formica due to the small head.  There are a ton of Formica moki in my area, but I'd love to know your thoughts.

Thank you in advance.

Other Pics.  Not sure why I keep messing up the photos.  Hooked on Phonics obviously didn't work for me.
